HDB Renovation

RESIDENTIAL

A Masterclass in Modern Glamour and Bespoke Organization

Interior Designer's Insights

This HDB renovation is a striking testament to Modern Luxury, where high-contrast tones meet meticulous craftsmanship to create an environment of sophisticated opulence. The home is anchored by a bold palette of deep charcoal, slate greys, and luminous champagne finishes, accented by strategic lighting that adds a theatrical glow to every corner. In the living area, a majestic floor-to-ceiling media unit takes center stage, featuring a grey stone-textured TV console framed by open shelving that serves as a gallery for the homeowners' curated collectibles.

The transition into the dining and dressing areas reveals a commitment to a "walk-in wardrobe" lifestyle. The dining space is defined by an elegant ring-pendant chandelier and a plush velvet banquette, set against seamless cabinetry that incorporates a cozy recessed seating nook. However, the true showstopper is the expansive dressing suite; designed with a boutique-store aesthetic, it features backlit glass displays for designer accessories, a sleek vanity with a perimeter-lit mirror, and a dedicated island for watch and jewelry storage. It is a home that doesn't just house a life, but celebrates it with a polished, high-fashion flair.

The primary goal for this project was to infuse a standard HDB layout with the feeling of a high-end luxury suite. The homeowners had an extensive collection of fashion and hobby pieces, so "storage" couldn't just be functional—it had to be a display. We utilized dark-toned cabinetry to create a sense of depth and mystery, but balanced this with integrated LED strip lighting to ensure the spaces felt vibrant and "expensive" rather than dark.

One of the key design triumphs was the creation of the dressing room. By dedicating a specific zone to vanity and wardrobe needs, we freed up the bedroom to be a place of pure rest. We chose a monochromatic grey and black theme for this area to allow the colors of the clothing and accessories to pop. In the dining area, we focused on "visual lightness" by using a floating cabinet design with under-cabinet lighting, which makes the heavy storage units appear as if they are hovering, adding to the home's contemporary, airy allure.
