Landed Renovation

RESIDENTIAL

A Timeless Landed Retreat of Warmth and Grandeur

Interior Designer's Insights

This landed residence renovation is a masterclass in Modern Traditional design, where the stateliness of a large home is softened by rich wood textures and warm, ambient layers. The home exudes a sense of quiet luxury, characterized by a sophisticated palette of deep mahogany, creamy whites, and soft gold accents. In the master suite, a dark wood feature wall serves as a dramatic backdrop for the bed, complemented by heavy, floor-to-ceiling copper-toned drapes that add a touch of old-world opulence while ensuring complete privacy.

The commitment to refined craftsmanship continues into the study and vanity areas. A massive, bespoke cabinetry unit in a warm wood finish combines glass-fronted displays for accolades with deep storage, creating a workspace that feels authoritative yet cozy. This same sense of grandeur is mirrored in the double-vanity bathroom, where stone-textured backsplashes and bowl-shaped vessel sinks sit atop a spacious vanity, illuminated by hidden cove lighting that gives the morning routine a spa-like feel. The kitchen balances this warmth with high-gloss black countertops and an expansive U-shaped layout, providing a professional-grade culinary space that remains connected to the home’s inviting spirit.

For this landed project, the challenge was to ensure that the large rooms felt intimate rather than cavernous. We achieved this through material weight—using darker woods and heavier textiles to "ground" the rooms. In the bedroom, we wanted to create a hotel-luxe vibe, so we integrated a recessed tray ceiling with warm LED strips to draw the eye upward while maintaining a soft, diffused glow throughout the space.

One of my favorite functional details is the double vanity in the bathroom. For a landed home, we really wanted to emphasize "his and hers" luxury, choosing matte-finish basins that contrast beautifully with the shimmering mosaic tile backsplash. In the kitchen, we deliberately used a dark countertop to contrast against the light-wood cabinetry, creating a clean, modern look that is incredibly easy to maintain for a busy household. The result is a home that feels grand in scale but deeply personal in every detail.
