Condo Renovation

RESIDENTIAL

Modern Minimalist Comfort with a Touch of Nature

Interior Designer's Insights

Striking a harmonious balance between functionality and aesthetic warmth, this condo renovation showcases the beauty of Modern Minimalist design. The home is anchored by a cohesive palette of light oak flooring, crisp white cabinetry, and deep charcoal accents that lend a sense of structured elegance to every room. In the heart of the home, a galley-style kitchen features a sophisticated duo-tone look—creamy upper cabinets paired with dark wood-grain bases—creating a sleek, high-contrast visual that feels both timeless and professional.

The living and dining areas are designed for seamless flow and social connection. A bespoke dining nook features built-in bench seating with plush grey upholstery, tucked neatly under a delicate, leaf-inspired chandelier that adds an organic, artistic touch. Moving into the living zone, a minimalist media wall with floating cabinetry and grey textured paneling provides a clean backdrop for relaxation. Throughout the transition spaces, vertical wood-slat feature walls draw the eye down long corridors, adding architectural depth and a rhythmic texture to the otherwise smooth surfaces.

The private sanctuaries within the home introduce subtle pops of personality. In the master bedroom, a bold teal accent wall creates a serene, deep-sea focal point, beautifully contrasted by sleek grey wardrobes. Meanwhile, a second bedroom utilizes a monochromatic tropical mural to bring the outdoors in, maintaining the home's sophisticated air while injecting a playful, botanical spirit.

For this project, the primary goal was to maximize the footprint of a compact condominium while ensuring each zone had its own distinct character. We leaned heavily into integrated carpentry to achieve this. In the kitchen and hallways, we utilized full-height cabinetry to provide ample storage without cluttering the visual field.

One of my favorite details is the dining bench integration. By replacing traditional chairs with a built-in banquette, we opened up the walkway, making the transition between the kitchen and living room feel much more spacious. To soften the clean lines of the "modern" style, we introduced organic elements: the floral chandelier, the botanical wallpaper, and the warm wood textures. This "soft-minimalism" ensures the home feels like a lived-in sanctuary rather than a cold showroom. The use of the teal accent wall was a deliberate choice to add depth and a sense of calm to the sleeping quarters, proving that minimalist homes don't have to shy away from color.
