The Minton Condo
Condo Renovation
RESIDENTIAL
A Contemporary Symphony of Marble and Wood
Interior Designer's Insights
This condo renovation is a masterclass in modern sophistication, seamlessly blending organic textures with sleek, minimalist surfaces to create an atmosphere of refined comfort. Throughout the home, a consistent design language of vertical wood fluting and cool-toned marble accents establishes a sense of rhythm and flow. The living area serves as a stunning focal point, where a floor-to-ceiling marble-veined feature wall is punctuated by a floating white console and a warm timber display shelf. This interplay of materials is echoed in the study, where glass partitions framed in matte black maintain a sense of openness while providing a dedicated, quiet space for productivity.
The kitchen and utility areas transition into a crisp, monochromatic palette, featuring pristine white cabinetry that maximizes vertical space. A subtle nod to heritage is found in the patterned floor tiles of the kitchen, adding a layer of visual interest to the functional zone. In the private quarters, the use of warm wood flooring paired with floor-to-ceiling wardrobes ensures that every corner of the home feels both practical and serene—a true sanctuary that balances high-end aesthetics with everyday livability.
The homeowner desired a home that felt both spacious and "luxe," despite the typical footprint of a modern condominium. To achieve this, we leaned heavily into vertical design elements. By installing floor-to-ceiling wood fluting along the corridors and entryways, we effectively drew the eye upward, creating the illusion of higher ceilings. The marble feature wall was selected not just for its elegance, but for its ability to reflect light, brightening the entire living space.
One of my favorite functional touches is the glass-enclosed study. It allows the homeowner to work in a separate environment without feeling isolated from the rest of the home, keeping the visual lines clear and the spatial flow uninterrupted. In the kitchen, we focused on "hidden storage" with seamless, handle-less cabinets to maintain that clean, minimalist look the homeowner loved. By balancing these "hard" marble surfaces with "soft" timber accents, we were able to create a home that feels premium yet remains incredibly warm and welcoming.
